Session: HackingDiversity

For more than a year now, PyLadies Berlin has been hosting a monthly HackNights event where we invite open source maintainers to help aspiring contributors get started on their projects. Our community-oriented approach has yielded outstanding results, with an average of five pull requests merged during each event and an average attendance of 25 women.

Given the low participation of women in open source, it might seem like magic, but we’ve found a way to make it happen. In this demo, we’ll share our secrets to creating a safe space and a supportive community, which has helped us achieve such impressive results. Join us and learn how to create an inclusive environment that encourages women to contribute to open source.
